Who is Jarvis Smallman?

Jarvis Smallman is an accomplished 15-year-old living in the small community of Hopetoun, Western Australia.

Intrigued by nature, the outdoors, beach and surf, Jarvis has a passion for creating amazing images. Using his cameras, he explores the amazing local coastline taking nature, landscape, wave and underwater photography.

Jarvis was awarded a Ravensthorpe Hopetoun Future Fund bursary. This and other incredible support from local community groups such as Rave About Arts, Ravensthorpe and Hopetoun Community Resource Centres and Ravensthorpe District High School has led to Jarvis to opportunities to work with some amazing mentors to help push his photography further. These Mentors include Ren McGann (2020 Nikon surf photographer of the year), Astrid Volzke (award winning photojournalist) and Jennene Riggs (award winning filmmaker).

Just a few of Jarvis’s accomplishments include…

2021 Sony Alpha Youth Awards Finalist

2021 Mono Awards top 20

Many local and regional photography prizes

Living in the spectacular Fitzgerald Biosphere gives Jarvis plenty of inspiration and an amazing backdrop to enjoy all his passions.
